چکیده

Concentration and time course dependence of two structurally related plant flavonoids naringenin and quercetin on the nodABC gene transcriptional activity (as reporter gene nodC-lacZ activity) in Rh. leguminiosarum bv. vicae strain D923 and respective growth, nodulation and nitrogen fixing responses of plant host (garden pea) to inoculation with pre-induced strains were studied. Naringenin was more effective as a common nod genes inducer with maximum activity obtained at 0.5μÌ, while quercetin showed lower activity at a concentration of 15μÌ. According to the results quercetin was the better common nod genes-suppressor of Rh. leguminosarum bv viciae D293 growth. Incubation of germinating pea seeds with flavonoids–preactivated inocula (applied in effective concentrations), resulted in changed nodulation and nitrogen fixing patterns of plants after 35 days of growth. No direct relationship between common nod gene transcriptional activity of activated rhizobial inocula, following nodulation and nitrogen fixing response of plants was observed.

Effects of Combined Inoculation of Pea Plants with Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Rhizobium on Nodule Formation and Nitrogen Fixing Activity

The response of pea (Pisum sativum cv. Avola) to arbuscular micorrizal fungi (AM) species Glomus mosseae and Glomus intraradices and Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. Viciae, strain D293 regarding growth, nodulation and nitrogen fixing activity was studied. Pea plants (Pisum sativum cv. Role of nitrogen content of pea (Pisum sativum L.) on pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris) establishment

The leaf nitrogen content is generally accepted as an indicator of food quality and as a factor affecting host selection by phytophagous insects. The alate pea aphids (Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris, Aphididae) were given a choice among non-nodulated pea plants (Pisum sativum L.) supplied with one of four nitrate-N levels (0, 3, 15 and 30 mM). When whole plants were exposed to aphids for 7 days, th...

Response of Inoculated Pea Plants (pisum Sativum L.) to Root and Foliar Fertilizer Application with Reduced Molybdenum Concentration

The effects of foliar absorbed nutrients on root processes related to assimilation of nitrogen under presence or absence of molybdenum (Mo) were studied. Pea plants (Pisum sativum L.), var. Avola were grown until the 15th day in a glasshouse on liquid nutrient solution both without and with Mo added to the media. Plants were inoculated with bacterial suspension of Rhizobuium leguminosarum bv. V...

Sugar-binding activity of pea lectin enhances heterologous infection of transgenic alfalfa plants by Rhizobium leguminosarum biovar viciae.

Transgenic alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. cv Regen) roots carrying genes encoding soybean lectin or pea (Pisum sativum) seed lectin (PSL) were inoculated with Bradyrhizobium japonicum or Rhizobium leguminosarum bv viciae, respectively, and their responses were compared with those of comparably inoculated control plants. We found that nodule-like structures formed on alfalfa roots only when the rhi...

Co-inoculation of a Pea Core-Collection with Diverse Rhizobial Strains Shows Competitiveness for Nodulation and Efficiency of Nitrogen Fixation Are Distinct traits in the Interaction

Pea forms symbiotic nodules with Rhizobium leguminosarum sv. viciae (Rlv). In the field, pea roots can be exposed to multiple compatible Rlv strains. Little is known about the mechanisms underlying the competitiveness for nodulation of Rlv strains and the ability of pea to choose between diverse compatible Rlv strains. The variability of pea-Rlv partner choice was investigated by co-inoculation...
